Sewing on Binding - Part 2

Ok, so this week I'm going to show you a binding that I use for lightweight fabric such as voile, knits, silks etc.  It is still a beautifully finished binding but it will be a lot quicker than the binding I showed you in Part 1 last week.

This dress is part of my Audrey Lane range of dresses for beautiful women.  It is made from the softest voile and to keep the light look and feel I made the binding the same as what I'm going to show you below.  The binding has been done around the neck and the sleeve hem. 

Let's get started!

Cut your binding on the bias (the same way I demonstrated in Part 1) 3.2cm/1 1/4" wide.  

Fold bias binding in half and iron.  

Attach your binding to the right side of your garment and sew together .6cm/1/4" stretching the binding ever so slightly.

Overlock/serve/zigzag stitch the edge.

Then top stitch close to the edge of the garment and binding on the right side and iron flat.

And here's what it looks like from the underside.

And that's it.  Easy Peasy!

What's your favourite colour?  Pink and Green (Oh! what a lovely colour)


What is your favourite past time?  Drawing and Ballet classes.


Do you have any pets Audrey?  No! we live in an apartment.....but I do have a pretend dog Henry (aka Mum's feather duster - too cute)


Who is your favourite person and why?  Mummy, Daddy and Bernie (little brother) because I love them 


What annoys you?  I get annoyed when Mum doesn't play hide and seek with me!


What is your favourite 1 Puddle Lane outfit and why?  The green and pink dress because they are my favourite colours


And last question Audrey.  What would you like to be when you grow up?  A Princess (so sweet)

Where do you live?  I live in Ballarat, Victoria with my mummy and daddy.


What do you like doing during the day?  I do lots of fun things such as drawing, singing, dancing and play with friends while I'm at daycare.


What is your favourite food, Piper?  My favourite food is chicken nuggets and chips...YUM!!


What is your least favourite food?  Spaghetti Bolognaise


What is your favourite colour?  My favourite colour is Pink!


So Piper, what is your favourite pastime?  I really enjoy dancing.


Do you have any pets?  Not at the moment, but I would love a pet birdy!  (hint! hint! mummy!)


Who is your favourite person and why?  My mum is because she gives me cuddles and dances with me.


What annoys you the most?  Not getting my own way!


What is your favourite joke or riddle, Piper?  If fruit comes from a fruit tree, then what kind of tree does a chicken come from??  (Ooo! I don't know Piper)  A Poul-Tree!!!! hehehe!  (I love it Piper, very funny)

What is your favourite 1 Puddle Lane outfit and why?  I love all my 1 Puddle Lane outfits but my favourite is J'Adore as it is bright and pretty and I like spinning around in it!


And last question Piper.  What do you want to be when you grow up?  A Ballerina!!!  (too cute!)

Where do you live?  I live at my house

What do you like to do during the day?  I go to Kindy and play with all my toys

What's your favourite food, Taya?  My favourite food is chips

What's you least favourite food?  My not favourite food is vegetables

Do you have a favourite colour?  My favourite colour is pink

What's your favourite pastime?  My favourite things to do is make-up stuff and pick flowers

Do you have any pets, Taya?  I have a pet cat, a big dog, another dog and another dog (Wow, Taya you have a lot of pets)

Who is your favourite person and why?  My favourite person is Mummy cos I love her (hehehe! and Taya's mum didn't even prompt her)

What annoys you?  Birds pecking on me annoys me (Oh! dear)

What is your favourite 1 Puddle Lane outfit and why?  I love them all as the mirror tells me I'm pretty in them (too cute!!)

And last question Taya, what do you want to be when you grow up?  I want to be a pet doctor when I grow up so I can make all my pets feel better.

NEW FOCUS for 1 Puddle Lane!!

Have you ever felt like you’re at a crossroad and not know which way to go?  Well, I found myself in that position a few weeks ago with 1 Puddle Lane. So after giving it some serious thought I’ve made the decision to move in a more specialised direction.

Have you found it difficult getting the right outfit for your daughter’s special occasions such as her birthday party, her birthday party invites, special church events, a wedding you are going to, family photo shoot, etc, etc?    Well, I’m planning to make it a lot easier for you from now on.  I’ll be creating exquisite little outfits for that special occasion.  Some will feature twirly tulle skirts, some lace and organza and others beautiful cottons with decorative braid. 

This new focus means that you will still get the same high quality finish as in the past, but I will be making it easier for you to be ready for that special occasion in your daughter’s life.  For me, I’m so excited as  I get to play with lots of beautiful fabrics and designs.  And I’ll be doing a lot more of what I love and that’s creating.

You will be able to see some of my new designs this Thursday which will be available to buy from my shop.  Some designs will be ONE OF A KIND and some you will be able to order from.  Then I'll have more designs available each week to purchase.
